February 2004

Chapter Advisor's Corner

Can you believe that it is already February? The year is beginning to move along at lightening speed. The elections team is gearing up to hold Troop Elections and the Call Out at Camporee will be here before you know. The Indian Affairs Team will need your help with Call Out. Now is the time to sign up for one of the Ceremony Teams and / or the Dance Team. Practices for the Dance Team are beginning now with the schedule of dance appointments at Cub Scout Blue and Gold Dinners growing daily. Crow Chapter and Wiatava Lodge have many exciting events coming up as the year progresses. I would encourage every member of Crow Chapter participate in at least one Indian Outing.

The first Wiatava Lodge activity is a Cosmic-bowling event at Huntington bowl on March 5, 2004. The Chapter has an evening of fun and fire planned with a beach party bonfire at Huntington Beach on March 6, 2004. Jesse Meyer, our VC Activities will be sharing more on that activity at the Chapter meeting.

The Lodge is holding an Indian Affairs Weekend at Rancho Los Flores on April 16-18, 2004, and this is an excellent opportunity to get involved in the OA's Indian roots. Don't forget to sign up for Conclave on line at www.w4b.org. The deadline for discount registration is April 1 st , and all registration must be done on line. You can pay your fees at the Chapter Meeting. Also, there are still a few slots open for the 2004 NOAC in Aims Iowa. If you signed up and haven't paid your installments, then you need to bring your account up to date. Your account balance should be $375 by the February Chapter Meeting. Wiatava Lodge is shooting to have the largest NOAC contingent every with 120 participants.

If you haven't visited the Crow Chapter website, crow.ocbsa.org , recently, then you should stop by. The site has many new features like an interactive calendar, chat room, and the 2004 Plan book will soon be posted there. Come to the Chapter Meeting to find out how to gain access to the Members Only Area.

My Fellow Arrowmen,

Now that 2004 has begun the time to get broken in to all the new trends is over. The board and I have a lot of exciting things planned and many of our old events that you know and love are going to come back. March is approaching quickly and in the first week we have 2 major events. The first is that the lodge will go Cosmic Bowling on Friday March 5 th and the next day the chapter if going to have an awesome bonfire at the beach. If you want to get the full scope on what is happening and great night of fun with all the other Crows then you had better be at the chapter meeting on Thursday, February 26 at Emanuel Lutheran Church. It starts at 7:30 so don't be late or you may miss all the fun.

Vice Chief of Activities

Howdy,

Greetings, I am the VC of Activities, Jesse. Conclave has been moved to Lost Valley, and there is also a bonfire on March 6th. We may need some hot dogs, marshmallows, and wood for the fire.

Hello everyone,

The other weekend I went to the Ordeal Master / Elangomat training and as boring as it was, I learned a lot there. I am hoping to have a good Ordeal this year. If you are interested in becoming an Elangomat to get to Brotherhood or otherwise, then call me at (714)879-0608 or Pscokila@dslextreme.com .

Hey Guys,

It's official. Now you must sit through these annoyingly long articles for the rest of your pathetic little excuse of life (or at least the rest of my term). Anyway, Mr. Wolf gave his article to me on a disk last Thursday and I would appreciate it if you other board members would do the same, it saves me time and patience. Thanks.
