Hi, from Northern California!

I was a member of Wisumahi in the 50's and am embarking on writing a history of that lodge to add to the Cahuilla website. Wisumahi and Tahquitz merged similarly to San Gorgonio and Ahwahnee , as you probably know.  I have been contacting Scouts from my generation through 1972 in order to document the history.

What does Wiatava have to do with all this?  Well, in 1952 Skip Fife, the Lodge Chief of San Gorgonio , presided over the formation of Wisumahi and presented a necklace that consisted of a leather thong with three beads on it to Larry Grace, the first Wisumahi Chief.  That necklace was passed on to each succeeding Wisumahi Chief, including me in 1959.  The ceremony which Skip presided over was held at Camp Hilton, just beneath the landmark " Arrowhead " that symbolizes the San Bernardino Valley.

As I began to put this history together, I visited a number of websites and yours is just wonderful.  I am planning on showing it to my co-conspirators as a model.  In addition, I was wondering if Skip Fife were still around or if anyone from either of the pre-merged lodges was still a member and would be willing to assist us?   Please let me know.

Yours in Brotherhood,

Joe Rosenthal
